The last Summer Garden Morning is already here and I have no idea where summer just went! Was June yesterday? And September is tomorrow? What just happened in between?!

What I do know is that there is ONE FINAL Garden Morning event this Saturday, and I am really looking forward to enjoying it.

Come spend the morning in the garden with me!

There are definitely parts of the garden that are very tired.

The cucumber plants looked soo crinkly and sad the other day that I just decided it was time to call it quits.

The zucchini plant had too many squash bugs and it was getting harder to give the produce away so I sent her to the compost family.

Some of the zinnias are extra ripe and I left them to just hang out because their color keeps calling the butterflies over and the bumbles are still sleeping in them at night – so they stay.

BUT the tomatoes are COMING! Wow! Sooo many grape tomatoes!

And the slicers are ripening up so nicely! Time for BLTs and even more hamburgers!

The green beans decided to run a marathon this summer and are STILL producing sweet, crisp beans.

A little buddy, James, and me harvested a good load last week for his family dinner. I hope they were good, James!

And some wonderful new friends – three generations of gardeners spending the morning together in our garden – loaded up on heaps of flowers that just keep blooming because that’s what they do!

What’s a garden without too many flowers?

The vine tunnel is honestly getting cooler and cooler!

These goose-necked gourds are getting HUGE and the foliage is so dense that the air is green inside the tunnel. Have you ever seen green air?!

All of that to say that there are lots of ways the Saturday morning can go!

Harvest, bouquets, green air dreams… oh, and bubbles, board games, coloring, and a parachute!

Grab your ticket and come play in the garden this Saturday!

One mom looked at me and said, “this is totally worth a $10 ticket!” (one $10 ticket includes the whole family!) as her little girl munched on a little bag of popcorn and was surrounded by bags of homegrown produce and bouquets of garden flowers.

And I think she still had some bubble soap on her little legs from the bubble machine!

That family spent almost an hour harvesting, playing, munching, crunching, and cutting Swiss Chard.

When they waved goodbye, all the kids had pieces of the garden in their bike baskets to take home for lunch!

Our gardening season is winding toward that place we call fall, where frosts come and the season of green growth is finished.

So while we are where we are,

Come and be in the Summer Garden with me one more time!

Saturday is so soon! See you then!

Caroline Thomet 🌿
